Hello Orange County and Vermont Community, my name is Jacob Held and I am announcing my candidacy as Sheriff for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
As an Orange County resident and a Corporal with the Orange County Sheriff's Department I am proud to be part of this community and feel honored to serve the place we all call home. Growing up in Vermont, I was drawn to law enforcement and temporarily relocated to Minnesota where I went to school for Information and Technology, Business, and earned my degree in Law Enforcement. During my time in Minnesota I learned about community involvement, working with a diverse demographic, all while gaining valuable experience I still use today. Feeling the pull back to Vermont, my wife and I came home to this wonderful state where I ventured into professional photography and have managed a successful business for over 10 years. Once settling into Orange County, I discovered a need in the community and entered back into law enforcement realizing my professional calling.
Combining my skills in Business, Information Technology, along with my degree in Law Enforcement; coupled with years of running my own business, I am a candidate vowing to put the community first by blending the needs of today with the expectations and challenges of tomorrow. I will successfully provide solutions and fresh ideas forging a path forward in protecting, serving and maintaining the safety of our residents. Additionally; community relations, growth, and outreach will be a focus of my term. I am eager to continue working in Orange County along with our surrounding neighbors to collectively build better, more efficient systems to positively impact safety and communication in the place we all call home!

Personal Life: My wife and I live on a small homestead in Washington, VT with our two (2) Yorkies, Taz and Turbo. Hobbies I enjoy around the homestead include gardening, preserving what we don't use fresh for the winter months, taking care of our chickens, milling our own lumber, relaxing by the river, and of course playing with Taz and Turbo. I also enjoy photography, which has led to a very success self-employed business of over 10+ years and a creative outlet. Living in Central Vermont I also enjoy ethical hunting, fishing, camping, and kayaking!
